Learning as well as working as a female weaver is tough, but she did it anyway with all the struggles she faced. The biggest support she had was her husband and her family.

Getting married in 1989 in a weavers family and shifting from city life to a small town was a little surprising for her as she never imagined all these things coming together. In the start she was playing the housewife’s role as everywomen does after marriage but she wanted to do something else also and she got her chance. As the queen of Maheswar Ms. Sally Holkar started encouraging women weavers and making them a part of the weaver’s community, she joined her community and started learning to weave. As she was a good learner, she learned the magic of weaving very fast and become an amateur weaver.

Being worked in a local NGO as a weaver and then, Later on, weaving for master weavers was not so easy she worked very hard and got lesser pay from master weavers, and being politically played in an NGO going through all of this was too tough but she kept patience as her income became a pillar of her growing family and as she uses to enjoy weaving.

Daily after a hard working day at work and then working on household stuff at home, she uses to look at the sky every night and use to think of a solution of better earning and little easy life. she had a vision with weaving as she was too much into weaving craft. She took a major step and brought herself a handloom to weave independently and selling them locally. Soon her husband’s also joined her and they started working together. Day by day challenges came but she never looked back she was too dedicated to the craft of weaving and become a master weaver of a small group of weavers who are working under her. She started with a single handloom and Today she has reached a point where she owns 20 handlooms as well as her retail store in Maheshwar and she manages it with so grace like she manages her family and supporting her weavers and their family too. She has one son and two daughters, the elder daughter and son are happily married. Her son today supports her vision and taking that ahead.

Being able to watch her is so inspiring. She is who she is…
